A message from our CEO, Perla Rodríguez.
Another International Women’s Day has come and gone, serving as a reminder of some of the strides we have made. At the same, much more needs to be done in order for women to achieve equality in our society.
Despite our phenomenal strengths as women, daughters, professionals, mothers, entrepreneurs and all of the many roles that we play, we are far from being treated as equal members of society. In 2018, we are still living in an environment where women get paid less than men. We have very little representation at the Board and C-suite level. The numbers are even bleaker when we look at women of color.
This International Women’s Day, I want to recognize the many women throughout our nation who have gathered and marched through the streets of their hometowns to make the point that women will no longer be silenced. You make us all proud.
I also want to applaud the hundreds of women who are speaking up against sexual harassment and violence. Thank you for leading the way on such important issues that impact all of us. You are my heroes.
Lastly, I want to remind us all that our children are watching. As a mother, I know my daughter and sons are listening to what we say, and noticing what we do or don’t do. This is the time to stand up for ourselves and to fight for progress.
I will continue to work to break those glass ceilings. I will continue to lift other girls and women so that they can achieve their true potential.
